“Obion County and Union City have been actively involved in retail recruitment and now it’s time to take a deeper dive on investing in retail retention and growth,” said Lacy Beasley, president of Retail Strategies. “Coming off of COVID‐19 disruption, a great deal has changed in the industry. It’s the right time for Obion County to focus on outsourcing national retail recruitment by partnering with Retail Strategies. Retail Strategies has identified over $130 million dollars of goods and services are leaving the Union City retail trade area annually through retail leakage. We identified several retailers and restaurants to prospect for business recruitment. Retail Strategies has successfully worked with Martin and several other Tennessee communities for several years. We are excited to further those relationships and continue working to develop Obion County.”

Through the new partnership, Retail Strategies will perform a real estate market analysis of the businesses located in Obion County and identify areas of opportunity with expanding businesses. The Retail Strategies team will work hand in hand with community leaders to help them understand their market and highlight opportunities for infill. Additionally, the team at Retail Strategies will proactively reach out to potential businesses, property owners, brokers, and developers on behalf of Obion County Joint Economic Development Corporation.
